I just returned from my summer in Maryland where I was working at TIC summer camp as the Director of Multimedia, moving up from my position last year as an animation counselor! And it was an absolute blast!
I was happy to be able to see many of my friends from last year, as well as meet the marvelous new staff members! While I wasn't working quite as closely with the campers anymore, I was thrilled by how many of them still remembered me and wanted me involved in their projects! My visage showed up in well over 5 animation, digital arts, and film projects made by children this summer and I am ridiculously proud of it!
As an animator, one of my favorite things about working with kids at this camp is hearing what shows and games they're into, because I'm often surprised by their answers. Every so often, the "in" show is something I've never heard of, so I get to do my research when I get home so I can keep up with the conversations!
I also love when they pretend to be into more adult shows like Family Guy or the Simpsons just to sound cool, but once they hear me talking about how much I love The Amazing World of Gumball, they drop that act right away.
Oh, and did I mention the theme days? Because I am the queen of theme days.
